Reader’s Question:
I am from Catalina Foothills, Arizona and was stopped by a law enforcement officer last week while driving my car. The car has auto insurance but I don’t have the insurance card with me then. How can I have the citation removed? I don’t want this to affect my auto insurance premium to go up in any way and I am hoping I could have this violation removed.

I am sorry for what has happened Noah.
Arizona has a financial responsibility law and there are three ways in meeting this:
1. certificate of auto insurance;
2. a bond; and
3. a certificate of cash or deposit that amounts to $40,000.
Going back to your question, from what I know is for you to be able to dismiss the charge for driving without auto insurance you need to show through mail either:
1. a proof that at the date and time the citation was given, there is an existing financial responsibility on the vehicle being used that meets the requirement for Arizona financial responsibility law or
2. an automobile policy that meets the required financial responsibility requirements that insures the person driving the car and the car itself.
Once you have proven that you have auto insurance coverage then you don’t have to worry. The citation would be dismissed. For additional information, on how you can have the citation dismissed in Catalina Foothills, Arizona you can ask the clerk court or the Arizona Department of Transportation (DOT).
