To know exactly if a not wearing a seat belt ticket will make your auto insurance rates to rise in Cambridge MA I suggest that you can call the Massachusetts Division of Insurance. The Massachusetts Division of Insurance sets the car insurance rates for the state every year.

You may receive surcharge points if you are convicted of the violation; or are assigned to an alcohol or drug education program or or pay a fine for a traffic citation. If you do not with a traffic citation, you must appeal it through the court. Traffic violations cannot be appealed to the Merit Rating Board or Division of Insurance Board of Appeals.

It is possible that your car insurance rate will increase if you are convicted of a seat belt violation and pay a fine.
